Further Information: Here is my second piece of Audio Research gear I am selling.... never thought I would sell the Ref 1 and this Classic 60, but everything changes eventually... 

So for sale is my Classic 60. This amp has shown other amps the door, its just that good. The mid range is exceptional, and is one reason I've held onto it for so long! The power of this amp is far beyond its 60 watt rating. I dont know what it is about valve amps but they always sound much much more powerful than their rating. This amp can handle complex loads with ease, and it will shock you just how good it is.

This isnt your grand pa's pipe and slipper valve amp, no soft and warm slop here. This amp was one of the first of the new breed of Audio Research amps that is actually a hybrid amp with a solid state input stage and valve output stage. Means it does all of the great things that valve amps are renowned for - 3D sound stage, incredible depth that makes the walls of your room disappear, incredible mid range - without all of the less appealing aspects of older valve amps, like soft rolled off treble, wooly bass and warm sound that obscures detail. Its not solid state sounding, yet its not typically valve sounding, which is why its such a successful amp.

550mv Sensitivity 100K so will work well with a Passive Pre-amp if needed

This unit prior to my purchase had a refurb done, many caps and resistors changed, tubes changed and biased. This unit is running like a dream, and just has that solid and reliable build of ARC's best amps. I estimate I've put 500 hours on the tubes so plenty of life yet and still sounding amazing. If your thinking of upgrading, thinking about a valve power amp, and want a taste of what the hi-end can give you, you wont beat this amp at anywhere near this price.

I'm moving on some of my longest held gear, and time to simplify things a bit... and make room for something special. And it's time for someone else to experience the magic of this amplifier.
