Further Information
The Linn Sneaky DS is a Digital Stream (DS) player. It has a DAC, Room correction and a built-in 20w power amplifier, so it can be used in a compact Hi-Fi system. Alternatively, thanks to fitted analogue and digital outputs, it can be treated as a source component for installation into a hi-fi system.
All you need then is a music source. This can be your PC, portable hard drive, USB stick, or a Network Attached Storage box (NAS).
It'll support WAV, Flac and MP3 file formats of up to 24-bit/192kHz quality, Most importantly, it uses its own upsampling engine, plus powerful digital-to-analogue conversion to maximise sound quality.
Best of all, if has very comprehensive Room Correction software option, which you can setup, that is linked to the Linn website. This means you can have multiple configurations for different setups if you wish.
It can also be orientated vertically or horizontally.
According to Ebay, they are selling from $600 (parts, not working) up to $2,500.
I have just upgraded to a Lumin 2 Mini $4,000 with an upgraded Linier power supply ($600), and I can honestly say it is not a lot better than the Linn, but I only need 1. It has minor scuff marks on the Top surface, which you can only see in the right light conditions. Last photo.
