Let's play a game. Try to find a less-than-stellar review of the Auralic Altair G1. I'll wait...

Ha! You couldn't, could you? That's because it's an unimpeachably great streaming dac that doesn't put a foot wrong, in any sense. It does one thing (ok two things: streamer and dac) and it does it (them) really, really well. 

Lucky for you, I’m broken inside and wanted to try some different flavours of dacs. Did I stray far from the path? I did not. In fact, I bought pretty much the same product again, just without the dac in it (Aries G1). Why? A: because I'm too cheap to pony up every month for Roon and 2) because Auralic has The Best built-in library and streaming software interface I've used. Ever. And I've used a bunch. Is it perfect? No. Is it a hot mess of laggy responses and baffling UI like almost every other proprietary streaming software interface around? Mercifully, also no!

Plus, and I know you know this already because you went searching for a bad review and could only find a bunch of great reviews (see what I did there), it sounds great!

The Altair G1 also has a pretty serious headphone amplifier in it and I no longer listen to headphones. It's also an extremely accomplished and user-friendly digital pre-amp and I'm tragically afflicted with a chronic case of listening to vinyl sometimes, so I wasn’t using it for that, either. Truth be told, I never really exercised anywhere near the full capabilities of this unit and still, I'm reluctant to part with it. 

So, I'll make you a trade. You give me the amount of australian dollars at the top of this ad that I'm not allowed to mention in the ad (shhhh, it's a secret) or an amount very close to it and I'll give you this superb streaming dac FOR FREE! Nil! Nada! Zilch! Zip! Absolutely NOTHING except the money that it says at the top that you have to give me for it.

You won’t find a deal like this anywhere else because the dac is here, with me, not anywhere else. It's the deal of a lifetime, even my mum says so. ARE YOU CALLING MY MUM A LIAR?
